Hi,

I have bought an ECU from a E8 260 to fit in my EDM E6 RS2.
Can i upload a E7 rom to the E8 ECU or not?
Will it be safe to run my E6 with a Ralliart Rom from E7 or E8?

FIRST: make sure you read and back up your original ROM file!!

If you're running your car on a ROM not made for it, it's likely to be BAD. You will almost certainly have to make a custom tune.

You can put he E7 into E8 ECU, but it will probably not run. I think the immobilizer works differently. Either way, it's no big deal; you can always put your original ROM back in.

I am also pretty sure that the ECU pin functions are not the same (there will be other people who can confirm this).

But can i read the E6 rom from my OE ECU with ECU Flash?

And can i write my E6 rom to the E8 ECU?

im running my evo4 on a 7 ecu with some pin changes and a patch or two , some pinouts on 7/8 ecu are different to evo6 ,, 7ecu is probably the better choice , have a look in here ,

Yeah you should be able to read it, but:

No- the micros are different. E7 and E8 ECUs are the same, but there are some differences in how the code works, immobilizer being one of them I think.

What I meant was, read the ROM in the E8 ECU first.

I'd suspect immobilizer to be your biggest hassle, but there are people here who have worked it out successfully, they'll tell you how.

Actualy there are several guys in the UK running Evo 7 Ralliart ROMs on Evo 7 ECUs in their early Evos. You do have to mod the radiator fan wires though. There are some threads on here on how to do it. By the way I'm working In Lisbon soon.
