reflashing to stock and ecutek

Hello. I have a few inquiries about reflashing to stock and tuning. Will reflashing my ECU back to a stock calibrated map enable my ECU to be reprogrammed with other software? And the other part of my question; if I had the stock map file, can it be done by myself using the provided software from EcuTeK's EasyEcu?

I have a '05 STi

To answer your questions, Generally speaking, Yes.

You can reflash to stock and start reprogramming from there. Though if you have the stock map you don't actually need to flash it back to stock except that it would probably give you a good baseline. I would suggest starting with the stock map and taking some logs to get a base line of what is normal for your car. Then start comparing your stock map to some of the modified ones that others have posted.

You can use a number of tuning tools such as enginuity or ecuedit to do your tuning.

i'm just trying to get around the EcuTeK "lockout" of my ECU. The nearest reputable tuner for EcuTeK is 9 hrs away. I don't have the stock calibrated map handy anymore. My 05 STi is not running a stock map.

So I could reflash a EcuTeK formatted stock map onto my ECU using the provided EcuTeK user software, therefore enabling me to utilize other software like open source?

Anyone have an EcuTeK formatted stock map handy? I think this would be asking much on here though...

You may be able to find someone with the stock ecu map for your car here
http://www.xpttuning.com/osecuroms/index.php

If you are completely locked out you can try http://www.openecu.org/index.php?title=SHBootMode
you will need to look for a stock or stage one map to use as a base though. I would be surprised if you will be able to recover the ecutek map, not sure though.
