The 1st step

i've searched and had some one show me on mitsu's but i would like to make sure i dont fry an ecu.
to conect:
1. mitsu- lap top to car car off. subi-with proper bridge
2. mitsu- car on (not running) download rom from ecu same fro subi
3. same process (sending to ecu of course) to upload modified roms from laptop to ecu
4. mitsu wait for upload to complete turn off then start and dyno/log subi-same but turn off then disconect bridge conector then start dyno/log

please any pointers as far as the basics go would be great, i have bean tuning aem ems and am not worried about the open ecu as i have had a chance to play with the soft ware and feel as though i grasp everything.
