Can ECUFlash Read ECUTEK?

Postby s2p2 » Fri Mar 16, 2007 4:03 pm

Hi

Trying to find out. Understand ECUTEK has a locker. Anyway to unlock that? Without unlocking, does it mean ecuflash cannot read? And where can i download an unlocker?

Thanks

that's for the EVO only.

To unlock the Subaru ECU you'll have to take it back to the ECUTEK dealer.

If my understanding is correct, the hookup / init sequence code for Subaru is embedded in the ROM image. This means that EcuTeK can change it and make it practically impossible to 'open' unless you know what they changed. This is good for them in that it protects their IP and helps them avoid warranty issues (I'd do that if I were them!).

Mitsubishi ECUs on the other hand have their 'bootloader' separate from the ROM, so you can't (easily) change it.

So take it back to EcuTeK to get them to unlock it. They then have no warranty or IP issues to worry about / they can wash their hands clean of involvement with your car.
