CEL under engine load = knock warning?

I've noticed something since we reflashed my V9 Spec C with AF581 map (V8 Spec C)... boost and timing was adjusted slightly for me to run 93

CEL comes on under WOT acceleration in 3-6 gears around 5k and stays till I release the gas, once I drop it - CEL goes away

I've heard it's a knock warning on EVOs and it flashes there, what about scoobs? Am I having heavy knock? :(
I didn't try, but I don't think I can pull the code, as it doesn't stay on, right?

A rapidly flashing CEL is misfire. A UTEC flashes it for knock, at a slightly slower rate. I don't know of any other situation the car would turn the CEL on.

After CEL flickering I have checked fault codes with a scanner on ver7STI and found we were maxing out the MAF at about 2bar at high rpm... hehe

P0103, Mass air flow sensor circuit high input

wow, I guess you were right about MAF! So what does this mean?

You are flowing the max amount of air the MAF can read. Any more than this comes up as an error. Either fit MAF into a bigger housing and rescale (I dont know how to rescale) or fit a higher rated MAF from something else and again rescale or whatever needs to be done.

Personally I would like to convert to speed density (MAP) and do away with it alltogether. But thats just me, and I dont know how to do that yet either...

I just told my mate who owns the car to turn down the boost and deal with it as I am doing everything for free for him so far and spare time is valuable to me right now ;)

oh, and Subaru's store history fault codes too which is nice, so even if the fault isn't there anymore it still keeps the code and marks it somehow as "history" as well as the other current codes as per normal.

actually you gave me an idea....
I know they changed MAF readings a little in the V9 so I'll try to reflash it with the proper map (V9RAC) and see what happens :)

I'd be surprised to see the stock MAF max out on stock engine setup
