ECU identification

Postby mrtMY03Aust » Tue Dec 27, 2005 9:06 am

Hi everyone,

From Australia here, so I expect I will be doing most of it experimentally of course, I must congratulate on how far everything has come in the past year or so, I remember looking here then and there was promise but im truly shocked at how far everything has come.

I haven't actually bought my WRX yet, but will shortly, obviously I want to try and buy a model thats ECU corresponds in some way (in general access/technology) to a US model.

Say with the same interface and that using software here can actually read/flash to the ECU. Im expecting (and looking forward too) customising the XML for existing software or writing my own in order to find the appropriate memory locations, ive done this for my mitsubishi based on DSM research in the US and it was very enjoyable, if a bit long winded.

According to an information source which won't be named:

AUS/SA WRX 03/04 - AF770
AUS/SA WRX 03/04 - AJ420

What information does this tell us ? Does it mean that its a Denso/other type? Does the code seperate more then this and say its base type is compatible with MYXX USDM model ?

Cheers for any advice, sorry if this has been covered I couldn't find it(ill continue to look).

A commercial flashing hardware/software has the same product as compatible for the USDM MY02/03/04 WRX and the MY03/04 Aust/SA model.

Promising I hope.

check out the tari forum - www.tari.co.za. i live in sa and we get the same models as you. ecuExplorer v3.0.6 supports download/upload/compare/test of all the AUS/SA WRX/STI 01->05. i'm busy adding map editing support for all our models too.

I also have a 2003 AU WRX and I would like to disassemble the flash image.
I want to add my own code to relocate some of the tables into RAM.
Can someone point me in the right direction to find a disassembler for this.
