For Open Source use WinXP only

Don't try to cut corners to save a dime like I have by using Win 98, 98se, or 2000me, or 2000 as the OS with ECUFlash or Evoscan. It wont work - period and may run crappy with the latest 2000.

I went through BS this past week due to being stubborn and cheap and I'm posting this so others may not go through the same crap I did (since this site is about giving).

Run XP only (runs nice now BTW!) or whatever OS is in the future

I've been using Windows 2000 on my laptop from day one. I haven't had any problems using it.

2000 and XP are more similar than you may think.

I'm running them successfully with Vista so I am not entirely sure what your problem is, as my OS really isnt supported :)

There is no such thing as Windows 2000 ME. It's just Windows 2000 or Windows ME (Millennium Edition). In fact the two couldn't be more dissimilar.

I wish I realized that after spending $35 loading it and 24hrs trying to run opensource on it

XP makes a huge difference, but the computer will have a "me" flashback
and give me:

XmlHandlerHelper Parse fault not to mention the display on ECUFlash has some quirks and doesn't allow me to resize windows with cursor
