Hey, I just purchased the OpenPort 1.2 cable because I am converting my WRX back to stock and need to reflash ASAP. So I hooked it up to my computer, and it installed the drivers by itself. I went to Device Manager and updated both the USB Serial Converter and USB Com port (COM5) using the drivers found on tactrix.com. I then hooked up the green connectors, loaded the program, set the options (I tried GUI and console), turned on the ignition, and tried to read the ROM. I get denso_bootloader_start or something of that sort about 5 times, then kernel flash disable, and preamble 1 no response. I don't get it. I need help :?:

I did try the Tari ECUExplorer and it did show my car's data after about 3 tries.

Can anyone offer some much needed assistance? I did search around beforehand :(

Chris

Sounds like you forgot to jump the other connector. Try that. Otherwise, you may be using an older version of ecuflash that didn't support the Openport 1.2 cable..?

Chris,

As qoncept has said, the error you are getting is most likely because you have a UK or EURO Impreza meaning that you also have to jumper the flash block connector. This was the problem that I had. It appears that US 2.5 WRX's with fly-by-wire throttle do not need to jumper the flash block when only reading the ECU ROM image. Everyone has to when writing a ROM though.

FYI - I started to write this lot up on the Scoobypedia page: Reading and Reflashing ECUs Using ECUFlash. Not finished yet though.

Everyone needs to jumper it, not just EDM and JDM. :)
