Reflashing WRX 03 ROM onto a 01/02 ECU

Ive tried searching, but cant find any info-Has anyone tried flashing the later WRX roms which have per gear wastegate compensation onto a 01/02 ecu of which its ROM doesnt have this facility?
Im pretty sure there isnt any extra sensors on the later cars.

I dont believe anyone has been sucessfull (over in North America anyway) in flashing a in gear comp. rom into an earlier ECU. There are a few posts covering this. This might not apply to the UK/JDM ROM's though as I have no experience there.
