I'm pretty sure this happens when you try to use a 'hookup method' (flashing tool) that is not compatible with the USB cable you have. e.g., you might be trying to connect to an EVO using a 1.2 cable, which doesn't have the necessary hardware to hookup to EVO7/8/9.
Just check the hardware and hookup methods match.

HI RADSDAU

The cable that I'm using is the 1.3 for open port mitsubishi evo8. The model of my car is a 2003 evo 8. If I need a different kind of cable let me know. I order the one that has to work for my car....

thanks for any additional help

Hmmm.... should work by the sounds of it. Can you confirm the cable is detected correctly in the port selection menu? (Options->Port...) If not, driver installation is likely the problem.
If so, sometimes forcing a selection of the right item seems to 'fix it'.
If it's still no go, I'd suspect driver installation again. I'm not the best guy to help you with that unfortunately, but lots of people here have fought with it and won.
Good luck.

Radsdau:

Thanks for your help. I send to colby a message of what is my problem but we still didn't come with the solution. Let's see if I come with the solution soon because I'm kind of desperate to work with my program since I do some tunning here for microtech, haltech and aem computers...

Well thanks once again and I will post if the solution is near by....

FINALLY !!!!

Damn.... I finally get to the program of my evo. With some tuning on the ignition map the change was amazing. The engine now keep going forward till I change the gear. Now is time to dyno it again to see if the changes are correct. Thanks for any help you guys came up.
