Postby sameh » Mon Jul 30, 2007 10:59 pm

hello every body ,really as a start i wanna introduce my self to all of you im Sameh and im mechanical power engineer and i want to thank all all of you coz of your nice work here in that forum . it was my nice luck to get that forum from surfing all over the net to get some useful data about what im working on these days, guys im working on something like black box connected to OBD-II connector and saving special data all the time while car is moving.seems to be hard work (i think just only for me ) :D anyway I'm just thinking guys it would be super great if anyone of you can help me in something coz im going crazy here from something and i feel like i cant figure it out . i did make my mind to work on the (ISO 9141-2 protocol ) but i have some problems in that i don't know how to initialize such protocol i did read so much on that field but nothing was good coz there is nothing show you how to make something like that all official documentation just talking about general things not showing you as live example what shall you do.I did purchase the ISO 9141 documentation and i feel real regret its nothing important as its just talking generally.Could any one plz show me how to initialize that protocol and what is the shape of request messages and response message plzz help me coz im going to lose my mind in that way.

The 5 baud initialization is the same for both ISO 9141 and ISO 14230. However, KWP2000 also supports a "fast initialization" mode.

Sweden has made its own ISO 14230 standard. If you are poor and cannot afford to buy the ISO standard, then the Sweden standard is a very good substitution.

How can i confirm that a particular car has iso9141-2. I have santro xing xp car. In which ,the obd connector has 4,5,7,8,15,16 pins. How would i know which protocol it uses. I am thinking it is iso9141-2 but am not 100% sure.
One more thing why did they give L line as well. Do we definitely require L line for initiation purpose.
Sameh.. can you send a copy of iso9141-2 specification docs. i am doing a project on it. :?

I already started my implemetation. I have hardware prepared with ly K line as input to the car(bidirectional). I wanna communicate to the car and extract some info atleast...
do help me please...
