Timing with 94+ octane

Postby m3n0ch3 » Mon Nov 06, 2006 1:23 pm

Hi guys,

I'm finishing tuning my car with 94 octane and I'm seeing results that are a bit amazing not to say weird..

Is it normal that with 94, under big load that I can still get timing values of 29-32 degrees before it pings?

when I say high load I'm talking 4.75+

the initial maps for a wrx will not allow more than 15 for the same cells?

I always though with 94 i could get 3-5 degrees plus but 15 sounds a lot isn't it?

I've got access to 94 but only running 93 since it is more widely available. With 93 I'm slowly working my way up and am at a knock free 23* around 4.75 engine load in the high rpms. But I think I should be able to get 25 degrees out of it with relative ease.

So your 29-30 degrees is still impressive but not too far off.
