How to use OEM Reflashing SW to OpenPort 2.0

Postby hmanxx » Sat Mar 13, 2010 8:56 am

Hi,
Tactrix Website listed OpenPort 2.0 is compatible with a few car type OEM reflash programming software.E.g Toyota.
Instead of spending time to hack on the HW interface to build up the reflash ability, I am thinking of working on embedding the tuned ROM into the OEM packaged file.this way the edited ROM will still be reflash to the ECU in a reliable manner.
I have gotten a copy of reprogramming CD for for study. THe package file is with extension .cuw (calibration update wizard)..the .cuw file contains high level header which is in high level plain text describing the number of upgrade modules, CIDs.....
I would like to concentrate on ROM disassembly work to fine relevant maps with IDA PRO .

Question
1) Anyone use this approach before ?
2) Any encryption applied on the packaged file(ROM is hidden in between)..The header is not..

Anyone has subaru reprogramming file(the format that recognized by HDS 3000 Module) for study.

regards,
hmanxx

There's an old version available at http://ken-gilbert.com/wrx/mans/Subaru_J2534.zip.

You can buy an up-to-date version directly from Subaru for $75. See the info at http://techinfo.subaru.com/static/specialTool.html.
