Help: 08+ STi (SH7058 CPU) reprogramming count limit?

Postby warmup » Sun May 30, 2010 12:32 pm

I've heard that MY08+ STi's ECU has a reflash count limit, it is around 100 times. Then I found a datasheet of SH7058(the CPU of 08+STi's ECU),
it says the min reprogramming count is 100, and no max count guaranteed.

So after 100 times of reflashes, the result of erasing or writting to ECU will be undefined.

Now I have reprogrammed my ECU for 80+ times, should I worry about my ECU's lifetime or it is just a theoretical limit ?

Anyone met erasing/writting issue after 100 times of reflashes on 08+ STi?

I've reprogrammed ECUs using SH chips several hundred times with no problems. I've heard of people on this forum going over 1000. You should be fine.

Thanks for the reply, it really makes me feel better :P

and i found this:

The ECU is rated for 100 flashes. However, latest Subaru STIs use the same ECU and some guys have flashed them more than a 1000 times without any problems.
