Car is a 2006 WRX MT. I have both enginuity (which logs perfectly- no issues) and ecuflash. Here's the deal with ECUflash: It connects with the car perfectly. I then choose the 2005-2007 DBW WRX/STi model. When I have tried to read the ROM, it completes the reading without a hitch and then states "ROM not recognized by current definitions" and gives me three options (abort, save, and make new definition). I have deleted the Subaru definition file (C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\Subaru) included when I first installed Ecuflash and replaced it with the most current definitions into the same place.
But, here's the weird thing: The Subaru folder that originally came with the ecuflash download had multiple subfolders with different models(each subfolder having multiple various 140kb ECU ROMs within). The downloaded current definitions unzipped into one large 3.4MB .xml file, NOT into the various model subfolders like the original. When I open the 3.4MB .xml current definition file in Excel, I can SEE all of the models in one large file, but it is NOT separated like the original. If I go into ECUflash/options and browse for the metadata address and set it to C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\Subaru, I get 1 (one) ROM file in my message log (as if it sees the current dowloaded definitions as one large ROM instead of multiple model specific ROMs). If I use the address C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata, I get 46 Rom files (all of them Mitsu and Mini with ONE LARGE SUBARU ROM).
So, my question is: what have I done incorrectly? Did the current definitions not unizip like they should? Should they have unzipped like the original into multiple subfolders, model specific? Do I need to change the metadata address to something else? Is my stock 06 WRX ROM not supported?
HOW DO I FIX THIS?
CAN I DOWNLOAD AND REFLASH ONE OF THE 06 WRX MT ROMS from here?
