ECUflash not working, but RomRaider Logger comms work fine..

Postby jblaine » Sat May 09, 2009 3:13 pm

Any ideas? Please? :)

I am trying to flash a 2002 WRX ECU back to stock with a stock ROM.

OpenPort 1.3 cable
ECUflash 1.41

For what it's worth, the logger in RomRaider 0.5.2b for Windows can connect to my ECU... once I selected COM4.

When I connect the green connectors under the dash, turn ignition to ON, and fire up ECUflash to test flash the ROM, I only get the following:

I was unable to find a place to specify COM4 in ECUflash (?)

Okay, I got past that. I was not performing the "IGN ON --> OK click" fast enough.

Test write succeeded.

Real write failed even with full car battery charge (see below). Is there any documentation or FAQ for ECUflash? I'm wandering around in the dark here and running into problems that others surely have encountered.

Any advice?

Sounds like you don't have the flash jumper block on; this links the 12V programming voltage through to the ECU.
It is possible that the 12V output on the OpenPort cable is dead; I have seen this at least once. I had to replace the 12V low drop-out regulator inside. Check the output pin on the cable with a voltmeter.

Thanks (again). I just found the RomRaider FAQ and read the whole thing. So yes, you're right of course, I need the jumper block and don't have it. I'll track one down or order it.

I am having a very similar issue, although, as I understand it a 05 LGT does not require a reflash connector. I can log fine but the ECUFlash software just isn’t connecting. I am reading that I should be able to set my comm port. I can set the comm. Port in RR but I don’t see anything listed under “Options” in ECUFlash. Is this something I would have done during set-up? Or am I missing something? Any ideas?

Thanks

ECUFlash scans for the connection. To flash or read you need to connect the green jumpers on the passenger side floorboard.
