Understanding ETC (electronic throttle control) map

Postby ETC » Tue Apr 08, 2008 1:43 pm

Hello,

I hope I can find some help with my problem here. I am looking on the ETC map of a Nissan VQ35 engine but can not make sense of it.

The cell values raise and the only thing I know for sure is that the vertical axis is rpm. I do not know what the horizontal axis is and what the cell values represent.

Does anyone have any info on Denso ETC mapping?

Thank you.

Do you have a map we can look at?

Oh, of course... here you go! As you can see there is a primary and a secondary ETC map.

Can you not post the ROM file? I'd like to load it in Ecuedit and try to design an XML spec for it. I could also try to disassemble it to get a hint on the conversion factors.

I have no BIN file I can post, I am using OSIRIS Tuning Suite from a company called UpRev. All files are patched and only readable with their software.

Thanks. It appears this is a 7055 processor like the 2004 US STI and many 2004-2006 2.5L Turbo AVCS DBW models.

Is there a free flash program and some sort of affordable cable available for the 350Z available? If so I may be willing to spend some time writing basic definitions for it to help get a tuning platform started. I've started to disassemble it.

Maybe we could come back to the original question? I am looking for help understanding the ETC table as from my testing it's not likely the cell values are directly related to throttle positions, however what they represent I do not know and I do not know what the horizontal axis represents.

That's why I asked the above questions. You're asking for definition work to be done. I can't just open it and zero right in on the ETC stuff in 10-15 minutes. It's very complex on the Subaru Denso 7055/7058 ECUs. I'm not too interested in helping if this is just to help support a commercial reflash program.

So, how is this flashed? Is there a free reflash program available? I am willing to help if whomever is providing this capability is willing to take a similar approach as Colby has with free software and very affordable interface cables.

Oh, OK.... well I don't know of any free flash programms for the VQ35 engines. You can buy the user tunable version of the aforementioned software though.

I thought that maybe someone would know more about the "logic" of the Denso ETC map, I wasn't asking for definition or reprogramming work.

You asked for someone to define what the axis and cell values represent. That's called "definition."

Then I apologize, I figured this would be an "universal" information if someone has a clue on how Denso ETC maps work as they are surely not used exclusively on these engines. I am not a programmer, I am just using this tool to tune cars.

They sure are exclusive to Nissan engines. Just because a manufacturer uses Denso software/compiler to create a ROM image doesn't mean that its tables have the same meanings as those created by other manufacturers using the same Denso software/compiler.
