ecuflash 1.30 with EDM WRX06 ?

Postby ponos808 » Sun Mar 25, 2007 3:08 am

hi all!
just coocked new ROM with enginuity for EDM WRX 06. got started ecuflash for flashing : no ROM definition. ok, answered that ROM is "Sti05 based"....result, of c, wrong tables displayed. The question is, will ROM just correct flashed into ECU without proper ROM definition file just as binary stream or ROM definition file is needed to put portions of ROM at correct addresses in ECUs flash chip? flashing starting address and flashing method are correct: as an sti05 - I've checked this out looking through enginuity's ROM definition of EDM 06 sti and EDM 06 WRX files

I have the same issue with an ADM 06 WRX,

http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php?t=2449

I know that it won't reflash with the right data, as a friend tried and it didn't run.

so, maybe we have to call Colby for help? i'm awaiting for the tactrix 1.3u cable to arrive via post, but if I cannot reprogram my ECU even with correct 'flashmethod' choosed but without proper definition file - it will be "disgusting" $-)

You can flash without any table definitions in Ecuflash. The flash method just has to be correct. When Ecuflash doesn't recognize/support a rom, it asks you if you want to inherit another rom's definitions. When you do this, it is likely that the definitions will be wrong if you were editing it with Ecuflash. But this will not affect flashing unless you edit with Ecuflash and then SAVE.

OK, Clear, Thanks a lot...at the deepst of my mind i expect that kind of answer, because it is very logical- not to reassamble bin with accordance of any definitions///

BUT things goes worse: yesterdays morning i received a cable and was very happy... getting home and connect it to my car at night (EDM WRX 06, DBW). AND nothing happend - i'm unable to deal with flash !!! cause reason: "bootloader init fail" or something like was displayed. Yes, i can capture live data, so connection and software is ok. i ve read, that there is no need in any underdash connectors/jumpers for EDM DBW cars (but ecuflash recommeded to connect them underdash). Do i need to find and install any jumpers under dash for dealing with flash, or to do someting beside of tactrix cable connection ????!!!!

You need to connect the green test mode connectors to read or flash. They are located above the driver's side footwell.

They are kind of by the fuse panel - they may be bundled up there with tape.

thanks a lot for link and comments!

1. I found already connected green connectors (male inside female) behind underdash fuse box with only one wire (black with yellow strip).
2. its EDM WRX 2006 - Colby wrote, that no connection have to be done to use cable.

anyway: connectors were already connected, wrx 2006 not needed in any 'wiring' I can't imagine what's going on.....

but when I used ordinary OBD-II cable only for datalog and have shortened some pins in obd-2 connector itself, my car entered in flash mode: fans starting cycling and CEL flashing.... I _have_ to remember: which pins !

+ shortened pin3 with pin7 in OBD-II connector : got fan#2 cycling + CEL blinking. OK, started as 2005-2006 WRX DBW in ecuflash - almost immediate failure...started as 2004-2005 WRX in ECUflash - got failure a little bit later - on "reading kernel flash buffer size"...in both cases cycling + flashing stopped...

found disconnected white connectors under left drivers foot side panel: connecting/disconnecting does not help too

what's up ?

Had someone have experience flashing EDM 2006 WRX with tactrix ??

I don't understand what you are trying to do. You are also using a regular obdii cable? To log, you do not need to connect the green test mode connectors. To read/flash the ecu, you do. You should be using the tactrix cable for both logging and reading/flashing. There are also another set of green test mode connectors on the passenger's side in some cars that need to be connected for reading/flashing.
