ECUFlash 1.3 Unable to read MY04 JDM Legacy GT Spec B

Postby RocketmanTT » Sat Mar 24, 2007 6:40 pm

Guys,

I've been scouring this forum to see if I could get a clue, but no joy. Maybe I missed something. So I'll ask it here at the risk of being redundant.

ECUFlash is unable to read the ROM from my '04 Legacy. Tell me if I did this correctly...

- connected green connectors together (behind accelerator foot panel)
- connected white connectors together (behind accelerator foot panel)
- click read rom
- choose 2004 lgt
- click ok and quickly turn on ignition

ECUFlash fails to get any result. Are there any other connectors on the passenger side (left)?? I'm using the open port 1.3 cable.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Rocketman,

I have an '05 ADM LGT.

No need to connect white plugs, just the green.
Secondly, choose sti04 method and not the LGT.

Steps:-

- Have computer at the ready, booted and with any un-necessary apps. closed.
- Start up ecuflash
- Connect cable to computer and to ODB-II port.
- Connect the green connectors.
- Turn key to ignition (not on), ECU flash will detect ECU is connected.
- Hit the upload from ECU button and follow instructions on screen:-
-> turn on key and hit o.k
- To download the entire rom it will take a few minutes.
- Once complete, if no ecu definition, create one and save the ROM to a file.
- Turn off ignition, disconnect cable and green connectors.

All done.

I had the same problem with 1.30, downgraded to 1.29a and managed to pull the ROM using the "04LGT" method.

Norbs - Thanks very much for the tip. I'll give it another shot and let you know. BTW, what are the white connectors for, and how different are the JDM/ADM LGT?

BoxerFan - Funny thing is that I had no luck with 1.29a either. But your comment is worth trying again.

What I realize is that I used to hit 'OK' 1st, then turn my ign on. Maybe that was the problem. So I'll keep u guys posted.

Thanks again.

They might turn your trip meter into a diagnostic trouble code reader. Give following procedure a try.

We will try it Jon.

All the auto seems to have a problem reading. All of them are JDM. No Manuals yet.

Ok guys, I spent about an hour trying read the ROM from ECUFlash and zero success.

I did it as per instructions. I selected STI04 and consistently got Er HC on the odometer as well as the temp guage shot right up to H.

See the attachment for the error.

I tried in both park and neutral also.

ECUExplorer gave me this ID - MY04 Legacy 2.0GT (JDM) [AH121-5885]

Surely someone has done this to a JDM LGT before.

Any help wil be appreciated.

You forgot to add that you will need to take the seat out to access the area Jon mentioned.

The following are the steps I took, hope it would help you in pulling your ROM.

1. Key at "off position"
2. Connect green plugs
3. Connect tactrix cable
4. Start ecuflash
5. Select read mode
6. Select 04LGT mode
7. At this point, ecuflash will prompt you.
8. Move cursor above "Ok" button
9. Switch key to "ON", and click "Ok".

That's exactly what I did, but only like a hundred times. And every single time I did it, I got "Er HC" on the odometer and the temp gauge goes up to H.

Did you experience this?

I only experienced what u have when I used ecuFlash 1.30, or 1.29a with "05/06 LGT method". Sorry I can't help u further...only suggestion is to try other version/methods, or use ecuXplorer to reset ECU before trying again.

Ok I'll downgrade to 1.29a and give it a go. What's the significance of resetting the ECU though?

Does anyone know where the passenger side green connectors are on the JDM LGT?
