Help with IAM and ecuExplorer

Postby wrxgeek » Mon Nov 27, 2006 3:24 pm

I've tried searching/playing with different addresses but I don't know if I have IAM set right in ecuExplorer. I have a 2005 wrx mt with ecu AJ890-8851. If I use address 20124 I get a value of 51 ( obviously not correct). If I use 20168 I get a value of 16.

I reset my ECU using ecuExplorer (does this work if you don't have the green connector/flash block connected?) and the value still sits at 16. Is 20168 the correct value?

Thanks and sorry for the noob questions.

20168 is the correct value. AM ranges from 0-16.

I was seeing that IAM issue with a stock ECU rom. Last night I tired resetting the ECU and watching what I thought was the IAM (the 20168 address). It didn't budge from 16.

So this morning before work I flashed a stg1 map from osecu and the IAM still didn't move.

Am I doing something wrong in ecuExplorer?

The osecuroms maps have the initial IAM set a 16. Perhaps your previous map also had the initial IAM set at 16. Open your rom in Enginuity or Ecuflash and you can see what the initilal IAM is set to. This is the value it will default to after a reset. If you are using an A4TF800F or A4TF800E map then 0x20168 is the proper address.

Stock maps will default to an IAM of 8 after a reset.

The osecu stage 1 map has an initial IAM value of 16. My stock rom has a value of 8. But...when I logged from the stock rom it would have been 16 most likely. So I guess if I flashed my ECU back to stock it would show 8. So I think its working correctly.

Is this the correct address of engine load?

Engine Load: 0x02 00 F4 - Divide by 32 to get load

thanks

Yes, IAM is dynamic. So, on your stock map, with an initial value of 8, after driving, the ecu ramped up IAM due to the relative lack of knock up to a maximum of 16. If you check IAM immediately after a reset with the stock map it should read 8 or to whatever the initial IAM is set to if it is a tuned map.

That load address is correct.
