Have you read the DTC after the CEL was ON ? P302 is not the only DTC for misfire, it goes from 301 to 304. So you should disable these 4 DTCs ;)

f'course I did ;) P0302 is the only one coming randomly.... most probably because of the flywheel.

I scanned the rom many times trying to figure our where the other code could be but haven't found any thing.

I don't think I ever responded with an update for my situation.

The "0" in place of "1" fix on my 2004 STI USDM DBW AJ241 works fine for P0420. I haven't had a catalyst in my car in months. I do not read the code out ever, historical or pending with my simple Actron reader or Ecuexplorer. I had some confusion when I was doing a lot of map swapping whether or not I actually had the fix in the car, but it is definitely in now and definitely works. Some confirmation of each location is in order, but my P0420 "0" works for sure.

Can you give out the hex address of the fix you did?

Yea thats been confirmed for the DBW ECUs but us "dinosaurs" are stuck for now.

Just to make sure you know, the hex address that he used will only be valid for that single image and might work for other revisions but will not be effective on other cars or ECUs.

what actually interested me was the delta between the fix and the DTC code hex location.

It seems so easy on DBW cars :( too bad it ain't so on previous ecu's

anyone found anything for non dbw cars?

replacing with 05 00 00 for misfires will NOT disable CEL, It keeps on flashing once in a while and stays in memory :-S

i`d really like to disable the light at least... changing the flywheel is not the way I want to go.

Has any progress been made on disableling misfire codes on the '02 WRX's yet?

There are MANY '02s with this problem that have flywheels and not that need it fixed in the next year or so to pass first smog check...mine being one of them.

I loaded the AF426 firmware and it took care of the misfires. I'm going to be testing the ability to eliminate the CEL or just turn it off (still shows up under scan) using the latest Enginuity program soon..tomorrow if it isn't cold.

Which firmware are you referring to with "AF426"? I'm still trying to figure all the revisions out and I am running "A4SGE01C" firmware now that I upgraded from original version. From what I could find, this was the latest ROM for '02 USDM.

Is AF426 newer than this or is it another way to reference the same ROM I'm referring to? Can you clarify for me?

Yeah, I just upgraded to this version the other day, and within 30mi or less, it came back on. I'm trying some other desperate attempt things, like raising idle and misfire DTC threshold, but from what I've been reading, noone else is having any luck with these changes either, so I'm not really expecting them to work for me either...

I never minded the CEL, however at this point, there NEEDS to be a fix for all '02s that are in CA at least. I'm crusading for as much R&D that needs to be done to FIX this CEL or Disable it completely from an OBDII scan would even be good enough (for passing smog).
