you need to add some .xml descriptions to the xml folder.

I figured out the floating point error (as stated above, you need to add an XML definition file for a particular ecu image to the 'XMLDefs' folder). However, now I am getting another error. When I go to open up an XML definition file (I tried 3 separate ones), I get the following error ...

"Access violation at address 00404560 in module 'ecuEdit.exe'. Read of address 00000020."

The other 2 XML files I tried to open yield the same error but with a different address.

EDIT: Figured out the problem. XML definition file error (even though I obtained the XML file from this board).

EDIT 2: It is NOT an XML file error. This error happens when I choose the first XML file in the list or the last XML file in the list. If I choose one in the middle then it works fine. I now have 5 XML files in the directory and all 3 in the middle work (didn't work previously) and the first and last one produce that error. I replaced the first and last one with one of the working ones (but a different ID so it appears first and last) and they still don't work. So, that proves the error is related to how ECUEdit is using those files.

im not sure im getting this. you're using ecuedit to try and open the xml def? i belive you're supposed to open the .hex that points to that xml def.

like for me i have the A4SGD10C.hex in my folder o roms. and in my ecuedit/xmldefs i have A4SGD10C.xml. i open the .hex and it works fine. i just tried to open the .xml and it didnt recognize it.

try finding your rom image and rom xml file. throw the xml file in the def's folder and open the image. see if that works.

Under the File Command on the menu, choose 'Open ECU description ...'. It displays all the XML definition files in the 'XMLDefs' directory. If you click on the first one in the list or the last one in the list and then choose 'Open', the program will error with the error I mentioned above. If you click on one of the ones in the middle (if you have more than 2), then it won't error out.

I think you can only open one at a time, but regardless of that, none of mine will open up. I get an access violation at address 00404560 in module ecuEdit.exe.

How many xml defs do you have listed in your window? If you have 3 or more, then try clicking on one of the ones in the middle (not the first or last). I don't get an access violation if I do that. I do get an access violation if I have only 1 or 2 xml defs.

You have the same access violation that I have ... should be the same exact error.

I have 4 xml defs. It happens when I pick each one... doesn't matter what order or which one out of the list... happens every time.

Reinstalling won't do anything. This is a bug...

Just an update on what needs to be fixed so far. This perticular error and the filename/path in the dropdown of the compare map field. (Just in case epifan doesn't read all the posts.)
