I am working now on some fixes on interpreting some maps that have to have inc axis. I might find some time to make it also produce an Enginuity compatible XML to keep everyone happy

That's what I was doing with the table definition generator, but I kind of pushed it aside before it was finished becuase ev8siv3 has gotten so many maps done already. After the next version I'm going to do some rehauling on the XML parser and add an ECU version editor, I'll probably put some kind of import on it.

XSWREX - Which XML file to use for A4SE900D?

Postby New2Scoobs » Wed Apr 12, 2006 4:47 am

xswrex, which version of the xml file should I use for ECUEdit, your "Hot update" in the 2001-2003EU ROMS section or the XML file that your program generates?
(A4SE900D)

Thanks

In order to familiarise myself with the maps etc in advance of getting my cable I have downloaded ecuedit and the xmlwrite tool. I also downloaded a couple of rom definitions inc A4TE001G (EU WRX 03). I have this rom (192k hex file) in the same directory as ecuedit and I created an xml file for it using xmlwrite. The xml file is also in the same directory.

I open ecuedit then open the hex file, but I don't see any maps. I can view the hex file as is but that's it.

I'm guessing I missed a step or have done something wrong. Do I now need to go and define each map ? I thought the xml was like an interface between ecuedit and the hex file that converted the various ranges into the maps.

Please help if you can.

Thanks

Edited to say:

It's ok, I figured it out, paste the xml into ecuedit.xml and as if by magic all the maps appear :D

You don't even need to do that...

Just make sure the .xml file is in the same directory as ecuEdit.exe ... you can have multiple files. I have a main ecuedit.xml, along with a few other xml files created by XMLWrite.

yep, that is the idea. One main ecuedit.xml with the base stuff and for each CALID one xml having map definitions

XMLWRITE error

Postby Tarascon » Fri Apr 14, 2006 1:33 am

Good day guys and xswrex: I was trying to use XMLWRITE and got this error:

XMLWRITE by tinywrex
Enter a CALID or press <ENTER> for list:A4SGD10C
Found definition
Opening ECU ROM file...
Writing XML file...
Writing 1D maps...
Writing 2D maps...
Runtime error 100 at 0000:0E34.

C:\temp>

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 and all the latest patches. If you need more info, just ping me.

BTW: Great app and great project. It took me a few days through the ropes to get to understand the apps, but they are all awesome. Thanks a bunch for the fun.

the ROM file must be 192KB. Convert it with ecuedit, File->Convert 160K to 192K
