Is the new 'wrong' file for a CAN ECU (07/08-)? It looks like it might be; the security is different for those. See if you can use the Subaru CAN methods to hook up to the ECU and reflash the original file back in. No guarantees though.

thanks
But the ECU does not respond to ECUFLASH to send the original file back in

That's probably because the 'correct' rom's xml is defining the 06STi hookup method to enter reflash mode, but you want the CAN method.
2 ways:
1. Attempt to read the ROM using the Subaru CAN method (if this doesn't work then the ECU may be bricked). After reading, do not turn the ECU off, and attempt to reflash the 'correct' file over the top.
2. Temporarily hack the xml for your rom so ECUFlash uses the Subaru CAN hookup method.

It is possible that ecu itself is not CAN enabled in hardware.
Newly loaded ROM returns ECU ID via k-line but is not able to connect\reflash via CAN due to not applicable ecu's hardware.

If you are lucky try to reflash via k-line.
Otherwise you are to use SHboot mode.

what would happen if you loaded the wrong file to the car's ECU? does it affect the cars performance and everything that are computer controlled?
