Reaching 1000 flashes, do I need worry?

Postby C6ect.ect » Wed Apr 25, 2007 1:13 pm

How will I know when my ECU is worn out?

When will it start to get loose if you know what I mean.

find out what flash chip the ECU uses, go over to mouser/digikey, read the data sheet for that specific flash device, when you reach said amount of times, get another ECU off ebay or forum member, when your FIRST ECU fails, replace.... easy enough, or you could try and replace the flash chip!

jmhalder, that advice is no good for us. Most of the stuff we're doing is with embedded flash ROM in the actual CPU chip which is surface mounted. It cannot be replaced in any remotely practical way.

This question comes up repeatedly. Please search.

If ECUFLASH never happened, and I continued to send my ecu through fedex to have someone flash it for me (for some snake oil code), by now I would of have spent over $150,000 for blind flashing and the car would be far from tuned. Not only is my car tuned now, I've learned so much.

Even if the ecu finally gives up and I have to buy a new one, it still would be worth it.

Thank you!
