No seriously, I've been saying this since I found out about this project. Just about every car made after 1996 supports J2534. Universal flashing should be possible without dealing with all the processor specific crap that has been haunting us H8 owners. Mitsubishitechinfo.com lists every car except a select few as being flashable using the same tool and protocol.

The problem is that the mitsubishi tool is a few thousand dollars then you have to pay for a subscription to the techinfo site so you can use it for flashing.

The new standard requirs that OEMs provide the app for a "reasonable" price. Mitsu should come down on their price for their app. It is only until now that the enforcement of certain "open" standards has been put into place by the SAE.

What interface cable can we use with Subaru Reprogramming software?

Subaru says that any cable which supports SAE J2534-1 should work. An inexpensive cable which should work with Subaru 32-bit ECUs (i.e. ECUs which don't require a reprogramming voltage) was mentioned in the first post.

Subaru also recommends against using the Vista operating system (see http://www.iatn.net/nastf/oematrix.pdf#page=9).

I have Subaru's CDROM and I've attached a screenshot of the results of a search for updates to calibration ID (CID) A2UG000J, the base flash on the US 2007 STI.

The "Decryption keyword" business sounds ominous.

The ROM image for the base US 2007 STI (A2UG000J) is at http://forums.openecu.org/download.php?id=813.

The ROM image for the US 2007 STI after it's been updated to A2UJ000J using the 22611AM411 .PAK file is at http://www.enginuity.org/download.php?id=1844.

If anyone wants to look at other files, click here.

I've attached a copy of that .PAK file.

Resurrecting this thread... What ever happened with all this? Was anyone able to crack this open to gain good information? The reason i'm asking is I'm a 4EAT guy and I saw that this program allows flashing of the TCM... Is it possible this CD could be used to gain insight into the untouched and rare subaru TCM that nobody seems to know anything about? Or is it possible for somebody to pull the TCM files off here so they could be looked at to maybe get a little more info on what's going on in subaru's retarded TCM's?

Bump on this.

I need an alternative to the tactrix V2 device. They break too easily.

I too would like to be able to open source TCM's for race/off road purposes.

I can see this thread is pretty old but I am trying to flash my Subaru with the latest flash files
but there is no way I can order this CD from Subaru.
I checked on their website and while subaru says that the cost of the CD is 75$ plus shipping
when I tried to call the number has been disconnected it.
I talked to the normal customer support and they know nothing about Subaru reflashing softwate
Does anyone have the Subaru original CD with the flash files?
It does not have to be the latest.
I am trying to find it but no luck up to now
