Flash failure 'STI04' method

Postby marky9074 » Thu Jan 18, 2007 2:18 am

The following I have compiled, with problems flashing back to the ECU using the 'STI04' method. All of them run through the test flash OK, but fail when trying to actually flash the new image.

A2WC420M 05 ADM Forester XT MT
A2WD010A 04 JDM LGT
A2WC420F EU Forester XT MT
A2WC012E 07 JDM Forester STI 6MT
A2WD012A 04 Subaru Legacy GT AT

Some similarities here, all starting with A2W, and most of them Foresters....

I think the common point is that they all use the SH7055 kernel for flashing.

I, too, suspect there's a bug in that kernel. There was a very, very similar bug in that kernel in earlier versions of EcuFlash (see http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php?p=3781#3781). I wonder whether that problem's fix has been regressed somewhere along the line. If so, then using a version of EcuFlash older than 1.28 might prove to be a work-around.

Where would I find an older version to download? Only 1.29a and 1.28 in the download directory...

OK, just tried 1.23 and had exactly the same problems....

Looks like this is something different to the previous problem.....

See my response in another thread - I think these have a slightly different rev of the SH7055 which requires use of on-chip flash routines. I need to get a hold of one of these ECU to test before I can release any fixes.

Hi Colby,

I am back now and am more than willing to send you my ECU. I will be away again in a week, for five weeks, so it would be the perfect time to send it to you...

Let me know quick!

Cheers,

Mark

Actually, I am off to Indonesia for five weeks from Saturday, so if I am going to pull the ECU and sent it off - I need to know where to send it to!

Top Stuff Mark & Colby. Thanks for all your efforts.

I kinda use my car everyday and have no other means of transport to be sending ecu's overseas.

If there is anything that can be done locally, i'd be more than willing to elp out.

Cheers

With any luck Colby will have received the ECU by tomorrow (1 week), so hopefully he will check by here and update us on any progress...

Cheers,
