Flash failure 'STI04' method

Developer topics relating to software that reflashes or modifes ECU code and data

I got the ECU today in the mail. I had a little time to play with it tonight, and was able to write a kernel that works well with these ECUs. I just want to test it a few more times and make sure there are no build regressions with the other kernels (which build from common source files). Everything is looking good though.

It would be useful to compile a list of the ECUs which require this flashing method (that is, those Subaru SH7055 ECUs that don't work with the sti04 flash method), so I can update the XML files in the release so they work out of the box. Otherwise, you will need to change the flash method to "sti04ocp"...

i will release something by next week. i may be able to automatically detect whether the version of the SH7055 in a given ECU supports the built in flashing functions or not. in that case, i can just have a single flashing method and we won't have to worry about which ECUs need which reflashing kernel.

Excellent news! Both that you received the ECU, and that you could do something with it!

Will be waiting with baited breath!

I have a tested version of EcuFlash working with a dual flashing method kernel for all variants of the SH7055 processor used in these Subarus and some Mitsubishis. Email me (cboles@tactrix.com) if you would like to test it out before I release it in a few days.

Thanks. It has been working well here too. I'll work on packaging it up with some other stuff today and getting a release out.

That is good news. We have not been successful getting the roms from off JDM 2003+ Foresters.

I have to look @ 2 this weekend and optimistic if I can pull these two this is coming and if so, flash them with the new EcuFlash that will be release soon.

Hi Colby,

Just installed 1.30 and it doesn't run. Tried it even from the command line and nothing. 1.29a was working fine. I'm running WIN2K as it is a work laptop so could that be the reason? I couldn't find any specific info regarding system requirements.

Thanks!
