Home Brew Interface Hardware

Postby mshoemaker » Mon Dec 28, 2009 8:15 pm

I wondered if I could get some information. I have an OP2, and I would like to build a similar interface. I have a micro controller with a CAN controller and transceiver. I am just curious if all I have to do is connect to the CAN high and CAN low pins, and start issuing commands, or is there some other connections that need to be made? Then is there a common way to talk to the ECU via the CAN Bus on vehicles, or is each manufacturer pretty unique?

Thanks,
Matthew

each manufacturer is unique from what I know

When MoTec was developing ECU for Impreza it took them many months and few tries to crack CAN BUS code

Im trying to find some information myself on Subaru CAN, Feel free to contact me with any info on Subaru CAN

^ @fuyund Talk about spam :!: ...is there anywhere to report these types of posts? I searched around but didn't find an option to report the user or the post.
Anyway, good luck with the homebrew interface, let us know how it goes. Sorry I don't have any more info for you.
