Support for reading ECU, other than Subaru and Evo

Postby DFord425 » Fri Jan 30, 2009 8:03 am

Does anyone know what has to be done to get the OpenPort cable to read any ecu such was VW or Nissan? Can it be done to read the ECU or do i need some kind of software(not just the application, but some type of driver or something like that)? Does anyone know of the protocols that are used for reading and writing to and ECU?

You can connect to most cars but it is a multi-step process, that needs adapting at every step for every make and model just about, with the pre OBD2 cars.

There is software out there for most cars, then you have to figure how to physicaly connect your cable.
