If it's SH7052, the ROM is 256kB. SH7055 use 512kB ROM. There is no 'converting' a 256k ROM to 512k; they're totally different animals. It's like 'converting' a motorbike to a bus.

I don't know what the code is that is normally in the second 256kb, but if you use a ROM intended for 7052 (256kb), I suppose it won't reference any code above 256k, so it shouldn't hit any 'invalid memory' traps.
Sounds like the memory and register mapping is similar enough (or exact) so the 7052 rom still runs in a 7055.
There will be some functionality missing though, don't know what.
Can anyone tell us what the small amount of code in the second 256k in a 7055 does?
