Do you know how to read the ROMs from these? If so, sure!

I had a feeling the 4s were the same as 5s.

Do you have an Evo V ECU to play with Colby?

I think the 5/6 are the same. I don't know much about the 4. The 5/6 use H8/539 processors. I don't have a 5 ECU, but I have other Mitsubishi ECUs that are H8/539, so I should be able to get things running on those.

Here are the Evo 4 ECU pics, is this the same as the evo5? what connections do you hook up to reprogram these chips, which chip is it that gets reprogrammed?

I'd need to see what's written under the chip with a label. IIRC, it doesn't look like a H8/539.

We've been through this here ....... http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php?t=266&start=0

The E4 ECU no where near the same as E5+, if anything it is more like E1-3 but with a MCu instead of EPROM/CPU. IIRC it is quite similar to 2G USDM Eclipse.

Thing is used E5 ECU's can be bought for less than GBP£50 and will plug straight into an E4 with a change of injectors so for the amount of development time involved I think everyones efforts would be much better spent on the later vehicles for now and anyone with an E4 that wants to do a reflash can simply use a later ECU.

yes I agree with you GTODesign, focus on the later vehicles for sure, I am most interested in the OBDII side of things, but if I can get a little guidance I might be able to progress the decompilation of the e4 ecu a bit of understanding by my own efforts :) since its the only ecu I have avail at the moment.

hello, i just came across this awesome forum. Great work guys! I was wondering how soon support(dont know if thats the right wording or not) for the evo 5 ecus will be up. I have a evo 4 and from all the research I've done, the evo 5 ecu is a direct swap and reprogrammable , as opposed to the 4 one which is not programmable. I have access to purchase a 5 ecu and was wondering if thats what i should do or should I just wait a bit yet?
also what cable would i use?
thanks

I'm currently running an E7 ECU with a Ralliart flash in an E4. There's a few bugs to iron out and a bit of wiring to do but it's running.

wow thats interesting, i did not know that was possible. If you can run a 7 ecu, i suppose its possible to run a 8 ecu? Since I'm in the states, its much easier to aquire a 8 ecu. Has anyone else tried it? I know the 4 and 5 ecus are the same because I have the service manual and the pinouts are the same. I do not have a 7 or 8 manual so I have not compared them to my car yet. Very interested in what people have to say.
BTW how does the 7 ecu run in the 4, Big difference i bet!!
