I need a definition file for a 2003 Galant, 4cyl, A/T Transmission.

I have found other definitons, however they were incomplete. I have attached the ROM file that was pulled from the ECU in the vehicle.

You have downloaded just the first half of the ROM.

I willhave to try and pull it again then. I "Read ECU" on ECUFlash and it seemed like it pulled everything, but I will give it another try.

If I've got this correct, acamus is suggesting your ECU actually has 512kB of flash. With an A/T ECU of this vintage, this is to be expected as the engine code is in the first 256kB and then the transmission code is in the second 256kB.

Which vehicle type did you select when attempting to read the ECU?

Yea, I figured it should be 512kb file size with being an A/T ECU, however we are still only getting 256kb fle size when we pull from the ECU.

s far as I know, there is no way to "select" a vehicle type when reading (pulling the ROM initially) from the ECU in EcuFlash.

Just to understand better, what exactly is the issue with not being able to read the full ROM, and what will this template you linked to do for the situation?

I'm going to bump this thread since my problem is kind of the same problem mentioned here. I have a 1999 V6 Galant, cali spec. I just received my Tactrix cable and Mitsu adapter, so I pulled my ROM today. When I selected "Read ECU", I had to select 1999-01 Mitsubishi Eclipse I think, as Galant wasn't in there. I tried selecting the other options to see if it would make a difference, but it wouldn't work unless I selected the above mentioned option.

What confuses me is that above in this thread, they mentioned that the file size should be 512 kb. Mine, however, is only 128 kb. Someone on Galant Tuners was able to write a definition using the ROM I pulled, but I'm afraid to do anything with it if it's not the full file. The definition is also missing the injector scaling table, but everything else appears to show up fine. Please let me know if this is a problem.

Note that the federal spec ROM (which uses definition# 20430016) is also only 128 Kb, but that one shows up fine in EcuFlash as well. If anyone wants me to attach the ROM and definition for the 1999 Fed spec, let me know.

also note that the RPM and load axis are not showing up correctly in the maps. Here is an example of another member's ROM v. my ROM



I went through the definition and it's pretty much identical to the existing Federal spec definition, with the exception of the actual file name. I'm brand new to hexadecimal, but from what I see, the codes are the same. The parameters that set up the axis for these tables/graphs are the same, from what I see.

Also, I had to read the ECU using the "1999-2001 Mitsubishi 2nd Gen/EVO6.5" template. I believe I attempted to use the "2002 Mitsubishi 3rd Gen/EVO7GTA" template, which uses the EVO7GTA reader template mentioned above, but it didn't work. I will try again tomorrow. Would it just be a matter of changing the year and/or memory model in EVO7GTA.xml?

I made a read template for the 1999 Galant that read as a H8539F memory model, and the ROM size is still coming out to 128 Kb. I'm not sure if the mem model is H8539F or H8539FA, but the EVO6.5 read template used the H8539FA. The current definition defines the mem model as H8539F. This should make a difference once I attempt to flash anything to the ECU. I don't want to brick it by not flashing a complete file.

For the axis on the tables, I just had to manually input numbers. Didn't realize it was that simple.

All right, well I finally discovered sometime last week that the H8/539F chip has 128 Kb flash memory, so that correlates with the size of my ROM.
