a lot of carbon out the exhuast

I own a 04 evo and it has intake inter cooler and cat back exhuast for mods it did have fuel controler but i had to remove it becuse it put my car in safe mode now I have a lot of carbon comming out of my exhuast from unburned fuel will this sites ecu downloads help my problem with a tune this is first evo and i want it to run great
