EVO X SST (UK market) ecu reading ???

EVO X SST (UK market) ecu reading ???

Postby taug6 » Tue Mar 10, 2009 2:49 am

This is what I get from the ecuflash when tried to read the rom from a uk model

[11:23:30.994] J2534 API Version: 04.04
[11:23:30.994] J2534 DLL Version: 0.50.2464 Jan 29 2009 10:58:58
[11:23:30.994] Device Firmware Version: 1.05.2463
[11:23:36.150] -- loading kernel --
[11:23:36.150] -- connecting to kernel --
[11:23:36.150] kernel get version
[11:23:36.525] ECU HW part number : nnnnnnnnn
[11:23:36.557] ECU SW part number : nnnnnnnnnnn
[11:23:36.572] VIN : nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
[11:23:36.588] -- unlocking ECU --
[11:23:36.604] starting session...
[11:23:36.963] requesting seed...
[11:23:36.979] sending key...
[11:23:36.994] no key(s) worked - perhaps this ECU has been intentionally locked?
[11:23:36.994] interface close
[11:23:37.025] interface close

It seems to me that the openport2.0 device with the current ecuflash support can not communicate with all evoX's. There seem to be a few people that had the same problem.

Any idea why is this happening. When it will be fixed ?

I'm presuming this is a stock tune, i.e., not EcuTek or Cobb tuned? No doubt they will change the unlock process.
Otherwise, does the OpenPort2 cable have all the latest firmware updates? (should be automatic).

All official UK models (FQ) are all ecutek tunned ...

As far as I know ecuflash comes with the .def files for the FQ models and definetely works for some people that have tried it here (in UK).

Could be that it doesn't work with some of the ecu's (from what some people suggest).

Anyone who knows more, please let us know ...

Piasini tool can do it.

Wow, surprising. They probably lock them.

Surely they wouldn't lock some and not others?
Piasini tool reflashes through the 'back door' and therefore isn't affected by security changes in the ROM. It will cost your first born though.

It could be something like that. Though the more expensive FQ330 and FQ360 models, as far as I know can be read !

I know that some people use the K-line to read (and possibly tune) their cars (like the piassini tool ?) but I was hoping to be able to use ecuflash just to read the ECU (and hopefully in the future monitor the sensore values ...). This unfortunately doesn't seem to be the case.

Knowing that more than 50% of the evo x's sold in britain are FQ300SSTs it looks like ecuflash, currently does not support them :(
