Successful USDM Evo 8 ECU swap into Evo 6 TME

Re: Successful USDM Evo 8 ECU swap into Evo 6 TME

Once the harness was finished, I needed the proper ROM for the ECU. BarryC provided a JDM Evo 8 GSR ROM file and xml definitions with the rear O2, EGR, and immobilizer disabled. The file is attached.

My TME fired up right away, and has thrown no codes. I took it immediately over to our emissions station, where it passed their ODBII check. (The emissions test started me down this path in the first place. The Evo 6 TME ECU would not talk to the emission station computer via the OBDII port.)

Very happy to have the swap complete, and can't wait to start logging and tuning.

Thanks again,
Tim[/quote]

What injectors are you running ?

If the Immo is disabled shouldn't it read as FFFF rather than some other code. Please check the map on the first thread.

afaik when immo is enabled the ecu periphery the ecu looks for the correct immo code before it will start , when its disabled the ecu doesnt look for the code if you get me,then it doesnt matter what code is in there.

Where can I get definitions for the 97250001 ROM?

EDIT: It looks as though I found the definitions for that ROM.

I have another question though regarding the process for flashing.

so first you built your harness and then plugged in the evo 8 ecu.
then turned the car to on, but didn't start, and then flashed the ROM to the ecu.
then it fired up perfectly?

The question I'm trying to get at is if the ECU you got matched the ROM file you burned to the ecu. I'm just worried that your ROM file you used won't go onto the ECU i'm getting or does it not matter?

Hi,

Please help as I'm confused on reading this tutorial. I don't know which one is correct.. the diagram or the quote? I am planning to install an evo 8 ecu (4 pin w/ code MN191022) into my evo 6 TME... I have a couple of questions:

1. What happens to pins 55,56 and 91? Do I cut them or leave them as is?

Swap pins 8 and 22
Connect 31 from the ECU to 34 on the vehicle harness
Connect 31 from the ECU to 20 on the vehicle harness
Connect 32 from the ECU to 21 on the vehicle harness
Disconnect pin 87

2. Connect 31 to 34 and 20? Is this a Y connection? Or was it pin 30 and 31? Or 32 and 34?

3. I can't open the ROM posted with ecuflash? If anyone could please email me a working ROM for my ECU with the items disabled that would be great. My email addy is peter@philskies.net.

Really confused. I just wanna be clear on what I have to do before performing the conversion. Thanks guys.

Best regards,
Peter

Thanks Todd, so pin 31 is untouched for your setup? What rom do I need to flash to be able to start my evo 6 with my mn19022 ecu? pls email me at philskies@yahoo.com. Thanks mate!

Cossie:
Swap Pin 8 and 22 (A/C Comp relay and Fuel Pump Relay)
Move Pin 34 to Pin 31 (A/C FAN HI SPEED ->Empty) ?
Connect Pin 20 to 31 (RAD FAN HI to empty) ?
Connect Pin 21 to 32 (RAD FAN LO Speed -> A/C FAN HI speed)
Disconnect pin 87

Todd:
swap pins 32 and 34 in ecu plug (Evo6 32:A/C FAN LO 34: A/C FAN HI // Evo8 32: A/C FAN HI 34: A/C FAN LO)
connect wire to pin 20 to wire now at pin 32(RAD FAN HI ->A/C FAN HI)
connect wire to pin 21 to wire now at pin 34(RAD FAN LO -> A/C FAN LO)
swap pins 8 and 22 in ecu plug (A/C Comp relay and Fuel Pump Relay)
disconnect 87 and 91
