Can the mods please make a Mitsubishi (Other) subsection?

Postby Newfoundlancer » Tue May 01, 2007 3:12 pm

Hey guys,
This is my first post on the boards. I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ. I just got my OpenPort, ECUFlash, and EVOScan up and running today, and so I'm probably gonna be needing some help. For a non-classified board vehicle, I'm really unsure as to where to place my posts. As well, there are people who have traveled this road with the OZ's before me, and there are more to come. If we could have an area to combine our experiences, it would be greatly appreciated.

As well, I'll post my stock 91890014 2003 Lancer OZ Manual Transmission ROM, and today's driving logs below. I would appreciate it if someone could draw up a definition file for me, and possibly review my driving logs. The car has a factory tune (updated with catalytic converter recall reflash). Mods are CAI, RRM Headers, and Magnaflow Cat-back on regular 89 octane gas. RRM Lightened crank pulley, and Magnacore plug wires are enroute.

Thanks guys.

EDIT: I also noted that in the Evolution 8 forum, there is a guy requesting a definition file for the same ECU ID number. Is it normal for an Evo 8 and OZ-Rally to share the same ECU?

2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ USDM (MT) [91890014] ROM-XML

Postby mtcavity » Wed May 02, 2007 3:42 pm

Inherent to 91890015, if you have this definition file and just want to run it through ECU Flash, go ahead.

If you do not have the XML definition for the 03 Lancer OZ auto transmissions, download the XML below and add it to your rommetadata folder in your ECU Flash program files and open ROM.

Here are the XMLs for the other Lancer OZs and ESs.

No love?

Sweet. Thanks! Only one problem with it that I've noticed.... no High Octane Fuel Map visible...

I used the XML you provided me with, which I got working after I downloaded the 81900015.xml from the site you provided me with. Would you be able to post the forementioned 91980015 if you have it?

Below are the current files I am using based on your instructions. Thanks again!

Go into ECU Flash "Options", and set your user level to developmetal. I will change that before I post the XML here. Sorry.

You rock! :D

BTW... I posted some driving logs above... if you feel like reviewing one or two.. like the 3rd gear pull.. I'm wondering if that is real knock I'm having, or if it's from my solid motor mount, exhaust, etc..

Thanks... you just made my day even more complete!

Edit: The reason I say "more" complete is because I got offered a job today that I've been trying to get for the past 2 years. Nursing in the ER baby! Woot! :D (been a nurse in a nursing home for the past 2 years... bleh!) :D

Thanks again mtcavity.. you're a lifesaver. An increasing number of us N/A lancer guys are making a run for it... hopefully none of us blow our motors in the process! LOL!

mtcavity: With the new definition file, it all looks as thou it's working correctly... but, if you could... can you please open the rom and def file in ECU Flash, and look at the low/high octane ignition maps. In particular, at the cells for 60% load, 3000 RPM. In theory, the low octane map should be pulling timing in order to save from a breakdown... yet, the low octane map is actually adding 6* more... Is this a problem with the def. file or is it his actual tune?

Thanks.

I would be puzzled also if this is a stock ROM. I looked at a few of the others and none follow this pattern.

I went over the addresses and everything is fine. It might be a feature that just that ROM needs for its stock engine/transmission set-up.

Other than looking at the ROM, I am pretty useless if the automobile in question is not right in front of me. I would look into a local tuner you know (that is reliable), or look into some of the other tuner sites for some advice if tuning for either boost or NA modifications.

Hope that job is working out.$$$ Soon you could be tuning an EVO! :D

Haha thanks! I start the new job on Monday... so I'm pretty pumped.

Like ya say, his ignition maps are really weird... yet, it sure looks as thou the definition file is doing it's job perfectly. But, to add timing in a low octane map, and to have as high as 45* timing in a stock high octane map.. just messed up.. lol. So, basically, you're confirming that the rom file itself and the definition file are matching up correctly right? And the oddities do actually lie in the tune of the car? On that premise, we'll definitely have to try and figure out why the car is tuned this way, and go from there :)

Thanks.

Yep (yes), all the addresses are correct. If the car has never been to a tuner or Mitsubishi for adjustments, the car SHOULD BE stock (considering there was no previous owner).

My Galant did not come with a knock sensor and adjusts the fuel map in some other fashion; make sure it is not some other system controlling the fuel map selection. Check on this...

Anyone know how the fuel maps selected on NA/Non-knock sensor vehicles? Is it Open/Closed loop (Throttle related)?
