Reading stock rom.

Reading stock rom.

Postby sczccrx » Mon Oct 16, 2006 5:04 am

Before we go on tuning my friends evo IX. I want to know how to read the stock rom from the car. We have installed the usb device and it seems to work. But when we go to read ecu nothing really happens. A small window appears but there is nothing we can do from there. SO my question is how do we upload his ecu's stock configurations.

Thanks for you help.

You need to post the log from the attempted reading of the ECU to get further specific help.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you are talking about. What is the specific log.

If you are using ECUflash it displays a log in the window as it works. You can also save the log file.

Can you post a screenshot? When ECUflash starts even before you do anything it displays useful stuff that is going on that might just clinch your problem. Without this info we're all in the dark!

Hy!

May I join in here as I have a little problem reading the rom of my IXer.

I connected the cable (the OBD plug and the white one), switched on the ignition and started ecuflash. When I try to read the rom, the dialog for selecting the car pops up and when I select "2006 Evo 9" and hit "Read" I get the following result (see attached picture). I've tried a couple of different approaches, but nothing really works.

What I tried without success:
- Started ecuflash, hit read rom, connected the obd and white plug, ignitoon on and then hit "Ok".
- Cable connected to car (both plugs), ignition on, started ecuflash, hit read rom and then hit "Ok".
- Cable connected to car (both plugs), started ecuflash, hit read rom, ignition on and then hit "Ok".

Then I ran out of ideas.

When I start up evoscan 0.97 it works perfect, just ecuflash refuses the cooperation.

Car is a 2006 EVO 9 German model.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Alex

Hy!

The car ist completely stock, no modifications done yet. I've tried a different notebook with XP installed, but it gave me exactly the same messages.

No matter what I try the stock ecu won't give me it's rom contents.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If this is a UK IX then it has been Ecutek'd and you need to use aktivematrix.com ECU unlocker.

If not a UK car I don't know why you are experiencing this problem.

Hy!

Thanks for the help. But as I wrote the car is a 2006 EVO 9 German model. No UK import or something and it has not been ecutek'd either (as far as I know). I got it with 45 km/27 mls on the odometer). I will try the ecu unlocker and see if this works.

Thanks.

Edit: Tried with ecu unlocker
