Question for the ECU experts...

Question for the ECU experts...

Postby AlanG » Thu Apr 27, 2006 10:07 am

I know this isn't directly related to openEcu... but I am a tactrix owner :D

I'm running a COBB Stage 2 93 Oct. real time map on my 04 USDM WRX and was just wondering what would happen if I ran 100+ Octane fuel?

Thanks

You would lose money from your pocket and barely feel a change.

I use 100oct unleaded in my rally car, and you definitely have to tune the car for the fuel. Higher octane fuels burn more slowly, so the timing needs to change. The stoichiometry of the fuel is also different, so your AFRs will need to change as well. Running 100 in a car mapped for 91/92/93 can actually result in a loss in power.
