Can't read STi's ecu!

For some reason I can't read from a 2001 JDM STi ecu, I'm using EcuFlash v1.42 & openport tactrix 2.0, connecting the green test connectors & plugging the ecu power jumper, but still can't read from the ecu, even tough I had flashed several similar ecus using the same cable & software! I'm getting the following log/error message:

When you key on before reflashing, do the fans cycle etc? If not there may be an extra set of green test mode connectors floating around, although I wouldn't expect it on that vehicle.

No, it's not ecuteked, I even swabbed ECU's from a different car & still got the same result!
People on other forums are suggesting that my timing pressing the 'ok' button could be off, & that I should press it immediately after igni is on. Another person even suggested that I should press ok first & then turn the ignition on!
