Difficulty reading a 2006 Dbw Legacy GT Rom...please help!

Postby Phoenix* » Fri May 01, 2009 9:30 pm

Hi Guys,
I tried pulling the Rom file from a 2006 Legacy GT yesterday, with no success.
Can anyone here give me any advice on how to setup the Green and White connectors?
I noticed that there were green connectors on both the passenger and driver side. . . And no white connector, therefore i assumed that the white adaptor wasn't needed?
I made sure the green connectors were both clipped in, but still couldn't read the Rom,,,is there something that i'm missing for the car.
I could read Learning View though...hmmm

A couple of points:
1. The white connector is not required on these (which is why you can't find one)
2. With both sets of green connectors joined, do the fans cycle with ignition on? You can read the Test Mode Switch state with ROMRaider to confirm. If this isn't right, don't even bother proceeding.
3. Is the ECU locked? If so, you won't have any luck reading / reflashing.
4. Try both the DBW non-CAN hookup methods.
I hope this helps.

Hi radsdau...

Thanks for your reply.

1. Yes, the white connector isn't required... learnt this the other day.
2. Yes, the fans cycle when the ignition is on. Didn't try logging the car with Romraider, but I can do this to confirm.
3. I doubt the ecu is locked.
4. I did try both non-CAN options...still nothing.
5. I've read on other forums, that the problem could be with the COM Port settings...whereby the BAUD Rate port settings needs to be changed from 9600 to 4800...has anyone here done this changed, and worked?

That's strange. Sorry Phoenix, I'm not sure what to suggest next. Sounds like you're doing everything right.
I doubt if the baud rate needs changing; ECUFlash should set that specifically for each vehicle. Changing the settings in the device hardware setup should not make a difference, but as always, there are details I don't understand so it is always possible.
Sorry I couldn't help you out more.
