I'm looking for an unaltered dump of a A4TC401L (or A4TC400L) ROM to flash to my buddy's car before we tune it. Anyone have one?
Thanks!

what does that number represent? how would I find it on mine? and what are you using to dump the memory onto the ECU?

I have an 02 USDM WRX wagon if that helps

The newest I have for that car is A4TC300L. If you find it, please post it.

You can use ECUFlash to dump your image, open it in hex editor and look at the address 0x200. There is a string there that represents the ROM revision.

Edit: Does anyone know what happens when you unmarry an AccessPort? Will it use whatever Cobb's revision is as a basemap or restore the original image?

Good question, I hadn't thought of that.

Does the Cobb crap actually backup the stock rom to an internal eeprom so that during the unmarrying process it can restore the original properly? I think it must...anyone?

I think I remember someone on the sccaforums saying it didn't back up the original image and just replaced it with whatever Cobb used, but 1) I can't remember for sure, 2) it could have been wrong.

No, you are right - it just overwrites the user's image with the stock image stored in the unit, so you can end up with a different ROM version than you had originally.
