ROM Dump Question

ROM Dump Question

Postby nv-wrx » Wed Feb 22, 2006 12:39 pm

OK. I have been lurking here a while, and have tried to read everything and have searched for this problem to no avail.

I just got an Open Port cable (which is very nice and high quality, thanks for the good work Colby.) and dumped my ROM last night. The only problem is that there is an F0 as the very first byte in my ROM that offsets the entire thing. If I delete it it compares with all of the other A4TF500F-AH792 ROMs. Is this some sort of supersecret thing -- or did my ROM dump just foul up somehow.

Could someone let me know what is going on here -- I really would like to flash my ECU to get rid of the OL/CL delay.

Thanks for the great resources here everyone. I'll try to contribute when I get a little better at this.

Thanks,
Steve

What tool did you use to dump the ROM with? Are you saying that you ROM image has 1 *extra* 0xF0 byte at the beginning, or that the first byte is 0xF0? Have you tried reading the ROM a second time for comparison?

I used ECU flash GUI version 3. Will do a second dump for comparison after work tonight.

My ROM looks like this:

F00220022008F6...

All the ROMs I have downloaded start like this:

0220022008F6...

Removing the F0 from mine and then doing a compare leaves them identical...

So, I'll do another dump. Maybe something wierd just happened with that one...

Well, I re-dumped my ROM using EcuFlash, and didn't have the "extra" F0. EcuFlash is very nice! Don't know how I missed that -- thought I had read the entire site. :? Thanks for the help.
