Posted: Sun Nov 04, 2012 5:37 amThe other point to check is that the CEL light should be flashing if the ECU is in test mode.
The green leads should only need to be earthed (left hand side in both RHD and LHD ) is if they are connected together all the time.
If they are normally not connected together simply connecting them together should put the ECU into test mode.
If the laptop was powered from the car battery that would also provide an earth on pin 13 of the OBD2 port through the Tactrix cable.
