Please find attached my factory standard ECU ROM from MY03 Impreza 2.0 WRX (EURO) [AH750-5141].

ROM image was created using ECUFlash 1.01.72 (14 Nov 05) and subsequently used the compare feature to check it was the same as that read from the ECU.

Thanks to Colby for this great software.

Minor Edit: Added my ECU number to the Subject line.
Edit: Added a 192K version of the above ROM. Simply used ecuEdit's convert 160K -> 192K option.

Glad to see some new material.

I would encourage everyone to post up everything they have.

It only helps the research get further along and results in a more comprehensive knowledgebase for everyone who is working on grassroots products for the community.

I think I've found everything I need so far except for wastegate duty and EGT limit. Anyone want to take a crack at it? I'd like to get it ready so I can get a revision of Enginuity out that supports it.

Jared, what tools are you using (other than standard hex editors) to make reverse engineering ROM images easier?

Hi Crispyduck, just wanted to say hi as I've got the same ECU as you and from the UK too.

I've only just discovered these forums and have just ordered my openport 1.2 lead. As soon as I have it I'll post my ROM to make sure they're the same.

I've had a bit of experiance mapping older Impreza's using Apexi PowerFC's so looking forward to getting stuck in to this.

Hi 'DannyBoy-Scoobycity',

Good to see someone else from the UK on here. It would be good to work with someone on our ECUs as they seem a little different than the US-based ones and the tools available today for map editing don't support our ECUs yet. The main problem is reverse engineering our maps.

What MY car do you have?

Sorry haven't had time to play with this yet but seen your post with mods to your map and when I find the time I'll try them on my car and check them over with my wideband ;)

Oh and its a 53 plate UK WRX.

Come and say hi on Scoobycity when you get a sec.

Hi Crispyduck,

Could you tell me how to open the file to view what's inside?

Pls explain to me in steps (as I do much better at following them).

What I have already downloaded into my computer are:

1. Your rom image above (192K version)
2. Ecuedit 1.2.0.64b
3. Your ecuEdit.xml.zip from this thread http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php ... highlight=

Believe it or not, I could not open even ONE of Them!!
-There were errors on the Ecuedit when I clicked on the "Chip" icon.
-Your ecuEdit.xml file is unredable when using Notepad to open it (showed up strange font)

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to stalk on you or anything. I just want to learn from you since you are one in this board who always give the clearest answers. Also, looking from my ECU number AH751-5142, I suspect my car is the closest spec to yours.

My background: I live in Thailand (South East Asia). My car is 2004 WRX with 3 inches decatted exhaust all the way from turbo to back box and decatted uppipe. I was told from my dealer that my car is UK spec. All information I have is its ECU number is AH751-5142. I got this from a log file using my friend's Delta Dash.

My goal is to get the most out of the hardware that I've put on and make my car runs at near-optimum performance. The side benefit is to learn how the ECUs works and how to tune them.

I am in the process of ordering an OpenPort Cable from Taxtric. But being far from the scene, I dont know when I'll receive one. So cant give you my rom image just yet. All I can do for now is studying to get as much knowledge as possible so that I can get go once I receive the cable :D

Your help is highly appreciated
Nik.

PS: Your Scoobypedia website is one of the most information-rich out there. Very organized as well. Props to your effort put in!

Try this.

1) Delete/Rename your current ECUEDIT.XML file (to Ecuedit.OLD)
2) Download and install latest ECUEDIT program (65b at time of writing)
3) Copy this XML file (A4TE001G.XML) to your ECUEDIT\XMLDEFS folder.

Cheers

Got it opened! What a relief! Thank You Very Much :D

Some more questions:
1. I wonder if I can open images from different ECU versions at the same time? Do I just copy corresponding XML file of each ECU version into that XMLDEFS directory?

2. Are there any User Guide for this program somewhere?

3. I can not resize my Ecuedit main window by dragging the lower edges down (see attached file) Is this normal?

Your help is highly appreciated
Nik

Yes you can have multiple ECU images open. You first need to have a valid XML file for each image you want to open and of course the relevant 192k ROM hex file.

Use the XMLWRITE v4 program (download from link below).

It will ask for the CALID (e.g CALID for your own ROM would be 4TE001G)
** Use UPPERCASE characters when you type in the CALID **

I think you can press enter for a list of valid CALIDs

Select "3" for the output type (ECUEDIT single offset). You will now have a new XML file in the folder you launched XMLWRITE from. Copy this XML file to your ECUEDIT\XMLDEFS folder.
