Misfire Threshold

There is a parameter in Ecuedit for changing the misfire thrsehold. I assume that increasing this number will increase the threshold. Am I right? Trying to see if my super-lite flywheel is throwing random misfire codes.

If you increase it you'll also decrease the ECU's ability to control knock at the same time... I believe.

Ummm, because if you're misfiring your ECU needs to know this and throw the code. Whether or not it's because of your lightweight flywheel is not in question here... what is in question is how the ECU will detect knock/misfires if you turn that sensativity lower. The ECU uses the knock sensor to detect knock as well, but the CPS is also used I believe.

The ecu detect misfires by flucuations or break periods in the cam pos. sensor and the crank pos. sensor signals. There is a window of time that is allowable for these periods. Outside of these windows it will be consider a misfire. The knock sensor has nothing to do with detecting misfires.

on various roms i have seen a value of 10, where stock was 2. You might give that a shot

Thanks. I'll try it. I was just trying to see what ranges people are using. Have you seen any other side effects to changing this parameter?

In ecuedit 1.72 it is a 1d map called P301/2/3/4 misfire detection threshold.

I'm getting misfire CEL's with the UTEC LC (completely normal with injector cut) so i'll try to up my threshold to 10 and see if it stops the CEL from coming on. It's at 1 right now.

You shouldn't get any more CE if you set your thresold to 10
