wow, who knows. The turbo IS a TD04 right??? The stock WRX map has ~13psi and lower WGDCs. So they tuned the Baja completely different.

I have no ideas.

It is a TD04, but it is the 2.5L engine. As hawk mentioned, stock boost maxxes out at 11.8psi ... and only for 1 cell. The car is making stock boost correctly. Trying to get anything above that is the issue.

Ok, I joined this forum just to jump in here.

I am also hitting 90.2 WGDC and getting low boost (like 16 psi). I have a 05 Legacy GT - 2.5 with a vf40 - you know the bit.

Read my story here.
http://legacygt.com/forums/turbo-powert ... after.html

This steps you through my dilema. I am still stuck.
Cliff notes:
Ran 18psi fine with like 86% WGDC flat.
Installed K&N intake - loaded a TDC Tuning base map they made for the intake
Did a log - getting 15 or 16 psi peak (3rd gear always) - WGDC dips down in low RPMS when before it just was flat the entire rpm range
TDC send me a realtime after looking at my logs - still having a dip in WGDC
I then installed EL headers - still getting low boost and the din in WGDC - even after a few realtimes
So I went back to my old STG II map, where I used to get 18psi and had a 86% WGDC. Now I am getting 16psi and 90.2% WGDC. The WGDC is flat again... but now really high.

So on the same map - I am getting the effect you see above.

So... now I need to figure out what would cause the ECU to jump the WGDC to 90.2 on its own... did I bump something on the install? I cannot find a boost leak, but it is hard to tell just when the car is idling.

I am clueless... thinking about talking to Christian at COBB and see if he has any insight.

Christian at COBB tuning thinks its my headers. I am going to see what happens when I swap back to stock.

I dont think its a header issue. Its a bit bizzare that we are both locked at EXACTLY 90.2%

You are not alone, Just check mine and max reading went to 89.2 only. 03 EUDM WRX A4TE100G :D

concensus is a boost leak.... after talking with some people. Or an exhaust leak.

EL headers are coming off.....

My TDC map maxes at 90.2 WGDC for a while too. I have an '06 running stage 2.

I think it is for safety purpose. To prevent from Solenoid lock up or such. However, I don't care much because I get plenty of boost even WGD capped at 90. :D

You dont want your WGD to be at its max. It needs to be able to regulate.
(increase/decrease)in duty cycle. The turbo dynamic maps is allows fine tuning of the duty cycle depending on the type of boost. Continuous or instainious boost.

just a stupid guess...

have you tried to increase the inner diameter of the plastic restrictor?
try increasing it to 3/16 ;)

any updates ?

I have a 2004 USDM FXT with VF39, catless up-pipe, sti tmic, so essentially at stage 2 STI..

I'm boost up to 17.2lbs, but I'm trying to increase the boost, but can't get there..

my WGDC is already maxed out at 90.2 as well...

I was thinking boost leak, but don't want to start ripping parts off just yet...

I'm getting max 245g/s MAF... does this sound about right ?

That's about right for mass airflow. I maxed out at about 250-260 g/s on my VF39 with a front mount.

There has to be some sort of map or table that keeps it from hitting 100%. Some sort of max WG duty cycle table.

There actually is a MAX WGDC table, but it's set at 100%... from logs however, I see that it doesn't go higher than 90.2... I'm still digging, perhaps there's another correction factor table that scales this down...

I've been digging thru my old logs to see if I have a boost leak, and over the past 1.5 years, the car's performed quite consistent in terms of boost, WGDC and MAF, so I'm convinced that I don't have a boost leak... (or I had it from day 1, which I doubt).

I have a related question, stock WGDC tables start fairly conservative, even the max WGDC table is conservative, only higher than what is really necessary...

A lot of tuners recommend and actually change the WGDC to very high WGDC values, such as 90% to almost all the RPM range, low and high (only where peak boost occurs, do they back off a little bit into the 80s)... they claim this helps to increase spool by clamping the WGDC... my car's tuned this way, and it seems to drive fine...

any obvious disadvantage to this method, aside from boost spike and oscillations (which I don't have) ?
