2005 STI (USDM) CEL and EcuExplorer

Postby salvi » Thu Aug 10, 2006 7:08 am

Hello,

I have been catless for a couple of months and I finally received the dreaded CEL. I have been reading on EcuExplorer for the last couple of days, but I'm still unsure on how to clear/disable the CEL. Some post state to replace the code with 050000 and others state to simply raise the values higher so the CEL won't come on. Another post states that you can clear the CEL by using the reset function in the software. I'm confused, which one is the correct method? Will resetting the ECU get rid of the CEL for ever or just until it comes on again? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

Have you downloaded Enginuity (www.enginuity.org) ? It has embedded function to disable some CELs ;)

You can't disable cels via Ecuexplorer. You can only reset the ecu, which will clear the CEL temporarily, but it will return if the condition still exists. Enginuity lets you edit your ecu's image that you've downloaded with Ecuflash (or Ecuexplorer if you have a 16bit ecu, which has an older version of Ecuflash built-in).

Thanks for the link, I'm reading all of it. Hopefully it shows how to disable the CEL.

You'll need to download your ecu's image and then use Enginuity to disable the cel. It has support for the most frequent emissions cels caused by mods.

Ok, thanks. I already have the OEM rom that I downloaded with EcuFlash. I'll give Enginuity a try and hopefully I can get rid of the CEL :)
