What software reads/resets trouble codes on WRX's today?

All,

I've very successfully used the following software tools:

* ecuExplorer - to perform realtime logging to csv
* Delta Dash demo software - to graph the above csv
* ECUFlash - to dump to hex file by ECU image and re-flash it back to ECU
* Analyse - to analyse the ECU image helping to locate (read reverse engineer) your maps.
* Enginuity - to visualise my 'map's (read from ECUFlash) and make small adjustments

What is missing? A tool to read and reset fault codes (without ECU reset) on the Newage ECU (for me a MY03 (Euro) WRX. Does anyone know of anything available today?

May I say what a fantastic community effort over the past 12 or so months in getting this software working in a way that can be used by enthusiasts :-)

Editted to add the ability to reset codes as well without resetting the ECU.

I have used a program called scantool (link below) but this was with different hardware - not a tactrix cable (Elm 323 or something). I did read several CEL codes that I had in the past and it enabled me to switch the CEL off again by resetting the ECU.
Not sure if the tactrix cable would work with scantool though.
I'm hopefull that Calvin (ECUExplorer) is near to releasing something that reads trouble codes from a post he made on his forum (but that might just be me being presumptuous :oops: )

Update - Scantool doesn't work with a tactrix cable. I just tried it.
I guess because Scantool is OBD2 & Tactrix cable is for SSM?

Editted to add the ability to reset codes as well without resetting the ECU.



These features are supposed to be included in a later release of the EcuExplorer software. You can see all the trouble codes listed currently, soon you be able to read and clear them.

Other than that I haven't found anything.

i will be adding v2.0.1 of ecuExplorer to my website (www.tari.co.za) later today. it has support to read the trouble codes and clear them. the clearing is done through an ecu reset.

Calvin, all,

Downloaded your new version of ecuExplorer today and logged my car on the way home.

You've done a great job to enhance it to read the error codes. I was specifically interested to read my error code. I've removed the downpipe and center section CATs so after a day or so of driving you expect to get a CEL - which I do.

Anyway looked at my fault codes and was VERY SHOCKED to see this ....

I expected the CAT fault and the Solenoid fault (assuming this is the boost control Solenoid) but not the others - my car's running great!

For the Boost Control Solenoid, it's your regular Dawes MBC install including a screw in the end of the vacuum hose that goes to the Solenoid (which is obviously not used anymore).

Assuming the software is working 100% [I'm sure it is :-)], do I have anything here to worry about?

FYI - You can see the car I have in the illustration (it's a five-speed manual - a proper car ;-)). I've also attempted a CEL fix as described here a while back. I reset the ECU two days ago when testing if the ECU fast learning trick worked (it did!). So these faults must be logged over these last two days.

I doubt very much that most of these are actual faults. My reason for saying so is that I'm getting codes listed in current & historical that aren't relative to my model e.g Cruise control & automatic transmission error codes - and I have a manual with no cruise control.
I'm sure it's just a matter of Calvin ironing out a few issues once we report back to him what we are getting.

I'm glad it's not just me getting the odd spurious CEL code.

no its probably not correct. damn. must be specific mem addresses for the different models then. i'll see what i can do.

what happened is that with each model year it looks as though subaru has added additional memory registers to store the dtc. older cars dont need all the known addresses queried just the earlier ones. most recent cars will obviously use all the known addresses. i'm making the change tonight and will release a new version tomorrow for more testing, it will query based on the ECU label received during the initial connection.

i had tested this on my car which is an MY05 2.0 STI (AUS/SA)

u have forgotten the oldest app.
OBDtool v.1.2.6.0. from Baum Instruments
it reads live data and dose resets with simple k-adaptor for ISO 9141-2 protocol
one can take it here
