Evoscan knock sensor readout

When setting up evoscan to display Knock what exactly is this measurement???
is it the voltage the ECU sees from the knock sensor???
so the higher the voltage the higher the Engine knock??

Knock Sum...
The knock count, which quantifies cylinder detonation, that is reported by the ECU is a number calculated using the frequency output (vibration) of the engine knock sensor along with information about other engine conditions. From what I have read, the ECU does not retard timing if the count is below 7.

If you have an analog to digital recorder i/o type device like a Lm-1 rpm kit, then you can log the actual voltage.. but the ecu determines/filters if it is real knock or not. And the knock sum drops off pretty quickly too. It accumulates the knock count otherwise. The higher the knock sum along with extreme pressures on the engine.. say good bye to your engine. generally 10+ knock sum is bad.. 0 knock sum is best.

If you are logging knock sensor voltage using other devices, you will need to analyse it with a spectrum analyzer to get some sort of real meaning from it.

thanks I am new to all this and thought that the Knock Sum was something specific to Evoscan thats why I asked here.
